August 25/ 2014-

Hello everyone My old cat passed away sometime ago Sad and I still have five left over monthly topical heart worm and flea prevention in a single application. They are still good for someone who owns a kitty cat weighing in around 5.1-15 lbs.  I can sell them individually or I rather ...

Had one dart across the road in front of me as I was heading into Pittsboro on 64 W from Haw river bridge. Luckily didn't hit it...near the boat storage lot and bait shop.

Have you lost a small white dog?

Sun, 07/27/2014 - 20:03
For the last few days, a  small white dog  has been hanging around near the intersection of Old Graham Rd. and Rock Rest Rd (about 7 miles north of PIttsboro), looking lost and lonely.  The dog is about a foot high at the withers, short haired, white with small brown spots at the back of one ear and ...

Pet Sitter

Mon, 07/21/2014 - 09:01
Does anyone know of any pet sitters in Northern Chatham county?

Highschoolers or college students are ok. I need someone to watch my cat for a few days.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Re: Hummingbird Feeders and Squirrels

I must have wimpy squirrels I watched them try to walk on it and put a toe on it and fell off several times. They have not even looked at it since. I am surrounded by woods though and maybe they have amused themselves with other things.

When I tried the "high wire act", they chewed wire and down the feeder came~ busted all to pieces

I have had it up for a month now and watched them try but give up. I used a pretty thin wire. They do not even look at them anymore.

I think this 1 was young when it arrived.  It seems to have gotten a bit bigger. And the red thingies on it's head/face have gotten bigger too. It seems pretty content. I guess because we have so many other birds. Geese/ducks & the 1 peacock. It & the peacock are almost always together, they're buddie...

Good luck with that idea, and I do hope it works for you. My late husband spent more time trying to outsmart the squirrels, and that was one of his methods...which worked fine for about 20 minutes. The determined squirrels could walk the line, even when he made it longer. Greasing the pole to a bird f...

Hummingbird Feeders and Squirrels

Tue, 07/15/2014 - 07:53
Hi all
I have finally figured out how to keep squirrels of hummingbird feeders. Just tie a thin wire between two branches of the tree and hang the feeder on the wire. The squirrel cannot walk the wire and the birds rest on it all the time between feedings. Worked like a charm.

I'm incubating guinea eggs this year for the first time, and I have some spare keets. I have six that are about a week old, and expect to have another batch of perhaps 10 or so at the end of next week. I'm curious whether anyone close to me, between Pittsboro and Siler City near the Rocky River, might...

If you were to go to Pleasant Hill Church Rd and turn right, I sometimes see guineas in the road a quarter-mile or so down that way. I don't know for sure which house owns them. I haven't seen them in a few months, though, so I thought their flock had likely "diminished." Maybe the one who wandered to...
