Graduation Project for 2010-2011?
Does anyone know if this year's seniors will have the same Graduation Project requirement as the class before them? I don't think I've seen any announcement.

Can give credit to the majority but it is the few, the ones that shove whole rolls of TP in the toilets, don't flush, throw trash on the grounds and the floor, put their
gum under the chairs or tables (and their buggars too). Be a custodian for a week and then come back and talk about giving these ki...

first day of school press release
Chatham County Schools had a smooth start on its first student day of the 2010-2011 school year today. Our 17 schools operate on a traditional schedule. We are running 87 buses this year (3 less than last year due to route consolidations as we continue to look for ways to absorb state budget cuts). ...

Re: great american salad bar project
Sort of with you there sshookup on the open salad bar. Last one I did (and BELIEVE me it was a LONG time ago), I observed a worker picking up dropped tongs OFF the FLOOR and directly plopping them back in the salad bar. But who knows what goes on in any "kitchen", be it restaurant or schools. Inspect...
Re: great american salad bar project
lots of high school and middle schools have salad bars around the country. give the kids some credit.
Re: great american salad bar project
I was thinking an armed guard might replace the sneeze guard and that would work.
Re: PHS student pick-up policy
Teachers are traffic monitors. Car pool, bus duty are 2 of the extra duties teachers have.
Re: great american salad bar project
My high school had a salad bar and a middle school I worked in had a salad bar and both were heavily used and didn't have a problem with people being nasty. A cafeteria worker kept an eye on it. It was a very welcome change from pizza and tater tots. I hope one of our schools applies and wins.
Re: great american salad bar project
I think salads are a great idea and should be promoted, however, a salad bar in a school is asking for
trouble. Hands in food, and God knows what else you'd find. Pre made, wrapped salads would be more
sanitary. I think this salad bar thing has been tried in the past with mixed reviews. I can just...

Re: PHS student pick-up policy
Before we stamp our feet and demand more changes, let's give this a try, shall we?
And from the looks of things, I don't think there are more than a tiny few children who are true walkers to school, as in, they walk on the non-existent shoulders of 2 very busy and narrow roads to get to their neighbo...

Re: great american salad bar project
I sent this info to Debbie McKenzie, the food service director. She was excited to hear about and plans to apply for schools that are eligible.
Re: Art supplies
From what was said at board meetings, there were positions eliminated (specifically 7 media assistants, as well as some non-school based positions). Open positions (retirements, etc.) meant that no people were laid off, though people in the eliminated positions were reassigned to where there were open...

Quote from: Innocent Bystander on Yesterday at 05:46:21 PMIt's the safety of the kids that's the issue, not the convenience of the parents. A fender bender in the car line is a far different thing than a child darting across the oncoming cars in the car line to get to the ...
Re: PHS student pick-up policy
They just need to build an elevated walkway over the traffic lane across to the parking lot area.
Re: PHS student pick-up policy
Ya reckon it's about safety?
Re: PHS student pick-up policy
What I don't understand is if walkers can just leave the campus why can't parking lot kids just leave as well?
I'm going to look into having my kids labeled as walkers - it is only about 7 miles. That walk builds character. And YES, it is uphill both ways.
